Moringa Oleifera (‘moringa’) is a highly nutritious plant that has been used for thousands of years all over the World. Moringa  grows throughout the tropical zones and has various valuable applications. The moringa leaf is rich in protein, essential amino acids, potassium, calcium and vitamins A, B and C, and may be taken fresh or dried. Moringa seed oil is similarly rich and may be used for cooking, for skincare or lubrication. A number of cosmetics ranges use moringa, notably the Body Shop and Esse.


Grape (Vitis vinfera L.) seed extracts have high levels of numerous antioxidants especially Oligomeric Proanthocyanidin complexes,and are considered among the most powerful plant-derived antioxidant foods.

Their anti-oxidant activity is mainly attributed to flavonoids and 3 different flavan-3-ols (flavanols): Catechin, Epicatechin, and Epicatechin Gallate and its polymers.

Flavan-3-ols can donate electrons or protons to Reactive Oxygen Species and act as scavengers.

Alpha-Lipoic Acid is an antioxidant made by the body. It is found in every cell, where it helps turn glucose into energy.

Alpha-lipoic Acid is a necessary co-factor for Mitochondrial α-ketoacid Dehydrogenases, and thus serves a critical role in Mitochondrial Energy Metabolism.

Antioxidants attack “free radicals,” waste products created when the body turns food into energy.

Free radicals cause harmful chemical reactions that can damage cells, making it harder for the body to fight off infections. They also damage organs and tissues.

Other antioxidants work only in water (such as vitamin C) or fatty tissues (such as vitamin E). But Alpha-Lipoic Acid is both fat and water soluble.

That means it can work throughout the body.

Antioxidants in the body are used up as they attack free radicals. But evidence suggests Alpha-Lipoic Acid may help regenerate these other antioxidants and make them active again.

Guar gum is a type of Polysaccaride which comes from the seed of the legume plant Cyamopsis tetragonolobus.

Guar gum is considered a soluble fiber and helps improve the way your body digests and absorbs the nutrients from foods.

Bacteria aren’t just illness-causing villains. A growing amount of research shows that maintaining a healthy balance of ‘good bugs,’ or Probiotics, in your digestive system could help ward off gastrointestinal problems, discourage the development of allergies in children and even influence how much you weigh and how well you.

One key to nurturing the beneficial bugs: feed them well with ‘Prebiotics’ such as Guar Gum.

Researchers from Italy’s University of Genoa found in a 2006 study that people who took guar gum daily had more of the 2 types of good-bug probiotics, Lactobacillus and Bifidobacteria, in their intestinal tract.

Findings were similar in a study by the United Kingdom’s University of Reading, where 31 volunteers munched biscuits laced with guar gum or a placebo. The Guar Gum group’s levels of Probiotics increased.

Fructo-oligosaccharides are Oligosaccharides that occur naturally in plants such as onion, chicory, garlic, asparagus, banana, artichoke, among many others.

They are composed of linear chains of fructose units, linked by β (2-1) bonds. The number of fructose units ranges from 2 to 60 and often terminate in a glucose unit.

Fructo-oligosaccharides are also considered Prebiotics.

After they are consumed, Fructo-oligosaccharides move to the large intestine to stimulate the production of Microbiota in the colon and gastrointestinal track.

Microbiotas produce essential nutrients such as short-chain fatty acids; control epithelial cell growth (the cells that line body cavities); prevent overgrowth of infectious organisms; boost intestinal immunity; and prevent inflammation, diarrhea and other intestinal conditions.

This “essential ecosystem” provides an important “balance between health and disease” in the body.

Fructo-oligosaccharides also increase calcium absorption in the body. Several studies have found that FOS and inulin promote calcium absorption in both the animal and the human gut.

The intestinal microflora in the lower gut can ferment FOS, which results in a reduced pH. Calcium is more soluble in acid, and, therefore, more of it comes

Xylose is a sugar isolated from wood, and classified as a monosaccharide of the aldopentose type, which means that it contains five carbon atoms and includes an aldehyde functional group.

It is the precursor to hemicellulose, one of the main constituents of biomass.
